All you need to know about HULU PLUS

Hulu is one of the most popular on-demand video streaming websites in the US. It was originally free to access and supported by ads, but eventually evolved to Hulu Plus - a subscription based model that features full seasons of the most popular TV shows as well as lots of other interesting video content. Much of Hulu’s video library is now available in HD format, and it can be accessed through different platforms. Mostly due to licensing reasons, its services are only available in the US and Japan, but soon it should expand to the UK as well.

How do these services work?

Hulu services are available both on a free and subscription-based model, known as Hulu Plus. The paid service is differentiated by higher video quality and extended convenience - such as multi-platform access through a diverse range of Internet-enabled devices: from TVs and smart-phones to set-top boxes and even video game consoles. There is little to no setup involved, and using these services is extremely easy (just choose a video and play); moreover, Hulu Plus features an extensive content library that covers previous seasons as well as the latest episodes of many TV shows.

Meet the new remote control

Aiming to improve the viewing experience and add to the viewer's convenience, Hulu recently released a remote control experience available through its Hulu Plus app. This function works by connecting smart-phones and video-game consoles seamlessly, using the latter as a virtual remote control. Using this feature is easy and straight-forward; just install the app into your smart-phone and log in to Hulu account on your video game console (supported models include PS3, PS4 and X-Box One). Once both devices are connected and the application is launched, they can be synchronized with a single touch. Once connected, the smart-phone can be used as a standard remote control as well as an alternate viewing screen - if for some reason you want to move away from the TV you can keep watching the show in your phone with a single touch.

The future of Hulu gaming

Following the creation of the Hulu remote control, the next new thing for Hulu will surely be the introduction of gaming into their content library. Since the Hulu is already based on Flash video format, the same technology will easily allow the introduction of Flash based games. This may include casino online games, as well as many other types of casual gaming experiences. With the convenience of the remote control app, Hulu has paved the road for many interesting new experiences, such as allowing users to play blackjack or Poker online with their friends or at specialized websites. With a simple update to the Hulu Plus app, they can unlock many new features to make the user experience more diverse and interesting.

If you’re a fan of the Hulu experience, you have much to look for in the future, as the technology and available services keeps expanding and diversifying in the upcoming months.

Microsoft might suspend the Xbox one production

The Xbox One was released in late 2013 and 5 million consoles have been shipped to retailers since. These 5 million Xbox do not represent sales of the console since many of then are still enthroned on the shelves of shops which making Microsoft consider suspending the production of its console for some time to sell the stocks.

Gamasutra indicates that Microsoft is considering to slow or stop the production: The market is about to saturate and it would be pointless for Microsoft to continue to manufacture consoles; Stocks would be sufficient to take effect until the fourth quarter of this year.

Of course, the situation could change if Microsoft announces at the E3 some new games that will boost the sales of the Xbox.

Microsoft has released its console in 13 countries so far, but it will be available in more markets in the coming months, which will allow them to sell the stocks and re-boot the production.

"The bird is back"

After the withdrawal of the application, many developers have tried to ride the success of Flappy Bird by creating clones. But the question we've all asked is: how can someone give up $ 50,000 a day like this?

After all, it all might be a marketing strategy since the author announced its return on all smartphones and tablets on YouTube. There are no pictures of the game yet, just a dove and the famous pipes!

The author of the game no longer communicates on his Twitter account and there is no way to verify if he's the one who posted it.

So, for the moment, we can only assume that the withdrawal of the application was for marketing purposes

The next Xbox has already been snubbed by Sony!

It hasn't been unveiled yet and already largely snubbed by Sony: this is the fate of the next Xbox that, according to rumors, it's said to have an AMD Jaguar-based 1.6GHz CPU, and at a retail price of 299$. The new Xbox might be called "Xbox infinity" and not Xbox 720. It will be officially presented by Microsoft tonight at 19h and available for customers around Christmas 2013.

Sony has made its move yesterday by distributing a teaser focusing on the design of the PlayStation 4. As Microsoft prepares to unveil its new Xbox, and some of the games that make up the line-up, Sony cares, Sony and troll.

Besides its seeder disorder video, the manufacturer has not failed to laugh at Microsoft on Twitter, posting the following tweet:

CRITIC'S QUOTES TouchArcade: "Homerun Battle 2 has all the elements that made the original such a hit and more. It's fun, it's easy to learn and it'd keep you occupied for a considerable amount of time."
GameZebo: "Batting cage-like gameplay is a lot of fun. Slick graphics."
148Apps: "...everything boils down to see ball, hit ball, watch fireworks go off. On this level the game is very satisfying and in many cases downright addictive."
everythingicafe: "I have found this to be a blissfully simple and entertaining game."
TouchGen: "Homerun Battle 2 is a homerun derby session on steroids."
AppEggs: "The most interesting Virtual Homerun game!"

Based on my personal experience:

Pros:
  • Batting cage-like gameplay is a lot of fun. Slick graphics.
Cons:
  • Practically impossible to win online battles unless you spend some serious cash. Accelerometer detection seems somewhat buggy and there's no calibration tool. Game crashes regularly. Aiming is practically impossible. It's "Home Run", folks, not "Homerun".
